books

I am currently working on two new books…

The first is a 365-day version of the Daily Vitamin eDevo I send out via FINDINGbalance. It’s a little like Jesus Calling, but specifically for those with eating issues. In the meantime, you can subscribe to it 5 days a week for FREE at www.findingbalance.com/dv.

I am also excited to be writing on the theme of More Than a Number: Why Who You Are is Already Enough. I began speaking on this theme in 2012 on the Girls of Grace tour and will release it soon. It is the most personal thing I’ve ever written, digging into areas of brokenness in my own life to display the redemption that awaits all of us as we break free from the world’s expectations for how we are to be. More soon…

Final-Thin-Cage-72Life Inside the ‘Thin’ Cage: A Personal Look into the Hidden World of the Chronic Dieter (Waterbrook Press) // When I entered college I began a battle with food that I never anticipated. A decade later, I finally began to break free from the cage that the number on the scale had trapped me in. If you or someone you care about wrestles with food and body image issues, this book may be just what you need. For more great books on this topic, please visit the “BOOKS” section of the FINDINGbalance website.

The Art of Being: Reflections on the Beauty and the Risk of Embracing Who We Are (Waterbrook Press) // As I was coming to terms with needing freedom from eating issues, God impressed upon me the challenge to “stop doing and just be” for a while. This beautiful gift book was birthed out of that season. Featuring essays from  artists including Sara Groves, Switchfoot, Phil Keaggy and even Linford Detweiler of Over the Rhine, its chapters hold much needed encouragement for breaking free from cultural expectations and just being who God made us to be.

Finding Balance with Food: A 12-Week Journey to Greater Health and Freedom (Fb Books) // One of the things that helped me most when it came to escaping the bondage of the scale and food was when I plugged into a small group. At the time, Christ-centered small groups that were specially designed for eating issues didn’t exist. Being able to develop this 12-week study which is now used all over the world has been a great picture of how God redeems what the enemy tries to harm us with.
